This past Saturday, some of the finest food and wine was sampled at Buchanan’s Chophouse in Calgary at the first annual ‘Wine Lover’s Dinner’ in support of the Prairies Wolf Pack Rugby. Over $10,000 was raised, which will go to the travel expenses incurred for the players over the course of the season.
Over 70 attendees were treated some great wine selections, wonderful food and an inspiring speech by former captain of the Canadian team Pat Riordan. The night consisted of 5 courses with varying wine and beer pairings, a silent auction and quick live auction of a 2011 Churchill Cup game worn jersey.
The various attendees were both from the rugby and business communities and everyone came together to support the cause. There was also good representation from some of our new sponsors and partners – Macquarie Financial, Scollard Energy, Rigless Rentals, Canadian Discovery and Buchanan’s.
“The importance of this fundraiser cannot be understated” said Wolf Pack Director Sean Hofstetter who was instrumental in the organization of the event. “As we build towards our first selection camp this May 19th and 20th, this type of success puts us in a good position to lay the foundations for our program going forward”.
